Simple machines can be found all over homes everywhere. They make doing everyday tasks much easier for us. From making lifting something heavy easier or chopping tomatoes to put in a salad, we use simple machines without even knowing it.

Lightbulbs used all over my apartment are a great example of a screw. Jar lids found in the kitchen also screw on to keep food fresher for longer. Screws are generally good for keeping two objects together.

Here is an example of a lever. Nail clippers are essentially one plane resting on another plane. Hammers or tweezers could also be considered levers.

The wheels on the dishwasher are a great example of a wheel and axle. The wheel rolls along the rod in order to be able to pull out the shelves. A clock could also  be an example of a wheel and axle.

A can opener can be considered a few different simple machines. The gears on it are a wheel and axle. The knob that turns works on a screw. The part that gets hooked under the can lid is a lever.

Simple machines can be found all over my apartment. They make life much easier and everyday tasks more enjoyable as well as practical.
